About Rachel
I've practiced Pilates for 22 years and taught as a Body Control Pilates Instructor for ten. My journey began in 2007 when illness left me with ongoing health challenges—Pilates became essential to my recovery and remains central to managing my wellbeing.
That personal experience informs everything I teach. I understand what it's like when your body isn't cooperating, and I know the transformative power of intelligent, patient movement. Whether you're managing a condition, recovering from injury, or pursuing performance goals, I provide the expert guidance and individual attention you need.

“I’ve been attending Pilates classes for 15 years. I discovered Rachel’s classes 2 years ago after moving back to the Skipton area and I can honestly say she is the best teacher ever! She really makes you think about every bit of your body, what it’s doing right and more often what it’s doing wrong. It’s because of this focussed teaching that I feel my posture has improved and I have less problems with my hips and right leg (issues caused by a skiing accident 5years ago). I would not hesitate to recommend Rachel whatever level you’re at on your Pilates journey.”

"Rachel is an excellent Pilates Instructor. I've had a few Pilates instructors over the years and Rachel is that rare instructor that has a vast knowledge of both Pilates and the idiosyncrasies of individual human bodies. She is able to adapt any exercise to suit any individual and make tiny adjustments to your posture to maximise the benefit from each exercise. In addition the sessions are fun and varied and progress is made almost without you realising it!"

"Rachel is the best Pilates teacher I have encountered. I have had various instructors but none who can display her knowledge and finesse. I would not hesitate and have encouraged others to take her classes ,some for relaxation others for recuperation."

Rachel has specialist expertise in exercises to promote bone health. I am someone who lacks confidence and motivation for exercise but her encouragement enables to me to keep up with a Pilates programme that benefits my health over the long term”.

“I can't imagine ever taking classes with anyone else other than Rachel. Classes have a lovely atmosphere, you learn something new every week (not just in terms of the movements we do, but also knowledge of my body) - and i definitely feel better all over. Furthermore, I am also a keen long distance runner, and my body is so much more robust to the stresses of running following just a year of Rachel's teaching. Thank you Rachel!”

"I have been attending Rachel’s Pilates class for a number of years now. That in itself must tell you something. The class is really informative, and structured. Rachel always lets the class know at the beginning of each session, which areas of the body we are working on and why. I attend the advanced class and really enjoy it. No class is ever the same. She caters for anyone who may have a particular health issues, and adapts the exercise accordingly. I have personally experienced this and she has helped me a great deal. I would absolutely thoroughly recommend Rachel."

"I highly recommend Rachel’s Pilates classes, especially for anyone with hEDS or HSD. She is very knowledgeable about Hypermobility and is always aware to make corrections to any hyperextension. She is also knowledgeable about POTS. Body Control Pilates with Rachel has helped me with my body/joints/pain more than anything else, even physio. This is because Rachel gives such detailed instructions on how to perform the movements, with emphasis on activating the correct & deeper muscles, in small classes, where she gives individual hands on corrections -

"I 100% trust her (Rachel) with my (troublesome) body! I feel I have much more understanding & awareness of my body, much more control in everyday movements & in exercise, and feel much stronger & more stable. It has helped greatly in recovery from knee surgery. Each class is different and a range of equipment used. The space is really nice, calming and friendly 🙂. I also recommend the 1 on 1 reformer, which is great for feedback on your movements and gives that extra workout from the resistance. I just wish I had started sooner!!!"
