Meet the Team

Rachel Luxon

My relationship with movement has been lifelong, but it took on new meaning after an illness in 2007 left me navigating my own recovery. Pilates, specifically the Body Control Pilates method, gave me the framework I needed to understand my body, rebuild my strength, and move well again. That experience became the foundation for everything the studio is today.

I qualified as a Body Control Pilates teacher in 2016 and have been deepening my practice ever since, working with mentors and instructors from around the world. I'm also a registered Body Control Pilates Supervising Teacher, supporting trainee instructors through their own development.

My teaching spans the full range, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners, with particular focus on hypermobility, bone health, back pain, and scoliosis. I'm also passionate about women's health, and increasingly dedicated to the practice and teaching of Hypopressives, a powerful breath and postural technique that can make a profound difference to pelvic floor health and core function.

I came to Pilates by a somewhat unexpected route. I studied Fine Arts, where I developed a deep appreciation for form, alignment, and the way things move. For years, I then applied my energy to the fast-paced world of hospitality management. Where, while I thrived on the rewarding challenge of elevating guest experiences, the long hours and the physical nature of the job eventually took a toll on my body. My joint hypermobility was exacerbated and I became prone to instability and lower back pain.

I turned to Pilates as a client if Rachel's. Over eight years as her student, Pilates transformed my relationship with my body, building the precise strength, stability, and body awareness I needed to to manage my hypermobility. That experience inspired a complete career change. Under Rachel's direct mentorship, I completed my teacher training with Body Control Pilates, the same world-leading standard that underpins everything taught at the studio.

Today, things have come full circle, and I am incredibly proud to be teaching as an instructor within Rachel’s studio and supporting the very community that helped me heal. I am dedicated to bringing that same hospitality and warmth to the studio, using movement to help you reclaim your strength and move through life with ease.
