If you're new to Pilates or joining an existing class (not Beginners only), I recommend an initial one-to-one assessment.
This allows us to evaluate your posture, individual needs, and medical history, while teaching you the Pilates principles and how to apply them to your body. The assessment ensures you join the most suitable class at the right level. This is essential for anyone referred by a medical professional or wishing to join Back4Good classes.
Pilates Classes & Timetable
Book mat and apparatus pilates as either group, private, or semi-private pilates classes with Rachel Luxon in Skipton and Barnoldswick.
Mat Classes
Traditional Pilates on the floor using your body weight and small props like bands and balls. Build core strength, improve posture, and develop body awareness in a friendly group setting. (Max group size 12)
Who are mat classes for?
Anyone wanting accessible, affordable Pilates. Suitable for all levels - choose Improvers if you're new to Pilates, Intermediate if you have experience, or specialist classes for specific needs like bone health or back care.
Studio Classes
Small group sessions (max 4) using specialised Pilates equipment - Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and Ladder Barrel. Springs and pulleys provide resistance and support for more varied, precise movements with individual attention from Rachel.
Who are apparatus classes for?
Anyone wanting personalised instruction and variety. The equipment adapts to all abilities - easier if recovering from injury, more challenging for advanced work. This is classical Pilates as Joseph Pilates originally taught it.

Mat classes use your body weight and gravity for resistance - they're the pinnacle of Pilates and can be practiced anywhere.
Studio/apparatus classes use specialized spring-based equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair) that provides resistance and support, making some exercises more accessible while offering different challenges. Both are valuable - many people combine regular mat classes with periodic apparatus sessions.
