• If you're new to Pilates or joining an existing class (not Beginners only), I recommend an initial one-to-one assessment.

This allows us to evaluate your posture, individual needs, and medical history, while teaching you the Pilates principles and how to apply them to your body. The assessment ensures you join the most suitable class at the right level. This is essential for anyone referred by a medical professional or wishing to join Back4Good classes.

Wunda Chair Pilates

Compact, powerful equipment using a spring-loaded pedal to create instability and resistance. Develops explosive strength, balance, and precise control through small, focused movements.

What is Wunda Chair?

A box-shaped piece of equipment with a spring-loaded pedal that moves up and down, creating both resistance and an unstable surface to work from.

Despite its compact size, the Wunda Chair is one of the most challenging pieces in Pilates, requiring significant core stability and control. The pedal's springs can be adjusted for different resistance levels, and exercises can be performed sitting, standing, or using the chair for support.

Who is it for?

Best for Pilates practitioners looking for intense strengthening work, athletes wanting to improve power and balance, or anyone needing focused leg and core conditioning.

Excellent for building functional strength that translates to daily activities and sports. The chair's versatility makes it valuable for rehabilitation work under expert guidance. Suitable for intermediate to advanced levels.

 FAQs

  • No. The Wunda Chair suits all levels. The adjustable spring resistance means exercises can be made easier for beginners or more challenging for advanced practitioners. Rachel adapts each session to your current ability and goals.

  • The Wunda Chair is compact but powerful. You work standing, sitting, or lying against a pedal system with spring resistance. This challenges your balance and stability in ways that mat work and even the Reformer cannot. The upright positions particularly benefit functional strength for daily activities like standing, walking, and climbing stairs.

  • The Wunda Chair excels at building functional leg strength, improving balance and stability, developing core control in upright positions, and enhancing proprioception. It's particularly valuable for anyone wanting better balance, stronger legs for daily activities, or sport-specific strength work.

  • Absolutely. The Wunda Chair complements mat classes and Reformer work beautifully. Many people use Wunda Chair sessions to focus on leg strength and balance while maintaining regular mat or Reformer practice for comprehensive fitness.
